Jessica Simpson's maternity line set to expand due to high demand (and she can't wait to slip into some of her own designs)

Jessica Simpson has announced that she is expanding her eponymous maternity line due to high demand.
The 32-year-old, who is currently pregnant with her second child, revealed that she has been working on a spring / summer collection which features 'everyday chic' pieces such as jersey knit dresses and dressed-up denims.
Talking about the move she told WWD: 'I am so [pleased] this collection is growing and I am able to give even more women access to comfortable, fashionable and affordable maternity wear.'
Just months after giving birth to her first child Maxwell last May, Miss Simpson revealed that she had designed a fashion line in collaboration with U.S. retailer Destination Maternity.
The first collection, which hit stores last fall, included sweaters, capes, jackets, tops and leggings with prices starting from $36.
According to Destination Maternity's president, Chris Daniel, the pieces were a huge hit with consumers and now a greater selection of goods will be on offer.
'Jessica resonates with women everywhere and the response to her maternity collection has only reaffirmed this connection,' he explained.
Miss Simpson's upcoming maternity range will be sold at 800 stores across the U.S. including Destination Maternity, Motherhood Maternity and Macy's.
Currently her designs are only available at 350 outlets.
The singer and TV personality, who is also a spokesperson for WeightWatchers, said she can't wait to slip into some of her more summery creations.
'I’m looking forward to wearing my favorite pieces during this pregnancy,' she exclaimed.
Ms Simpson previously said that she wanted to design clothing that made mothers-to-be 'look and feel great'.

 

'You want to wear clothes that are flattering to your baby bump; you want to show your bump off,' she continued.

The Camuto Group is the master licensee of the Jessica Simpson Collection, and helped launch the singer's debut shoe line in 2005.
Sunglasses, handbags, dresses, jewellery and more have been released over the years. The maternity line is be the 24th product offering to be sold under Miss Simpson's name.
In December it was reported that her fashion empire was generating almost $1billion in annual sales.
Miss Simpson, who is engaged to the American football player Eric Johnson, told Elle magazine last year that she hoped her daughter Maxwell will come to enjoy fashion as much as she does.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno she revealed that the pregnancy took her by total surprise.
'I was extremely shocked. Because I was going through a lot of hormonal changes, trying to get back to the old, vibrant Jessica. You know, it was kind of like a one-night stand. And it happened, all over again!' she admitted.
