A shiny new look! Jennifer Aniston ditches her sophisticated gowns for funky leather skater dress at People's Choice Awards

There are few things you can depend upon in life, but Jennifer Aniston showing up to a black tie Hollywood event in a sleek, short and sophisticated gown is usually one of them.
However, for the youthfully exhuberant People's Choice Awards, Aniston, 43, decided to opt for something altogether funkier... and it backfired.
For while Aniston popped herself into a leather skater dress by Dior, the bright young actresses at the awards glowed in demure embellished numbers featuring sequins and beading.

It left the stunningly attractive actress looking like a fortysomething divorcee trying to be down with the kids, while Kaley Cuoco, Julianne Hough and Rumer Willis seemed prepared to glide into an elegant ball.
Aniston, who desperately needs a style re-vamp, would have looked great in any of their dresses... particularly Cuoco's pink lace confection.

But the Noughties princess has not perhaps grasped (or at least her stylist hasn't) that to look young in the current fashion climate, modest clothes are the order of the day.

Big winners of the night Katy Perry and Jennifer Lawrence were both covered up in long sleeves with Perry, in particular, giving off a very wholesome vibe.

Interestingly, given the persistent pregnancy rumours surrounding Aniston and fiance Justin Theroux, 41, the leather dress did cover her stomach.

She wasn't showing any hint of a bump during her Mexican trip for the holidays but last night on Jimmy Kimmel's show she sported a black peplum dress that also covered this area.

And she was certainly glowing as she picked up her award, although that could also be down to the Cabo San Lucas tan.
